How to Support Your Photographer Friend (Even If You’re Not Booking a Session)

Running a photography business is a dream come true—but it also takes a lot of behind-the-scenes work, long hours, and heart. I know that not everyone is in a season to book a session, and that’s okay! There are so many other ways to support your photographer friend (like me!) that don’t cost a thing—but mean the world.

Whether you’ve had photos done in the past, or you just love cheering on someone following their passion, here are a few powerful (and free!) ways to support a small photography business:

1. Engage With My Posts

Social media is a huge part of how photographers reach new clients. When you like, comment, or share one of my posts, it helps more people see my work. Algorithms love interaction—your engagement can literally help bring in new bookings.

Extra love: Share your favorite photo I’ve taken, tag my business, or drop a kind comment!

2. Refer Me to Friends

If you hear someone say, “We really need family photos,” or “I’m looking for a wedding photographer”—send them my way! A personal recommendation is one of the most powerful forms of support.

3. Leave a Review

If you’ve worked with me, even just once—please leave a review! Whether it’s on Facebook, Google, or my website, your words build trust and help others feel confident choosing me to capture their moments.

4. Celebrate My Work

Photography isn’t just about clicking a button—it’s about storytelling, connection, and emotion. When you compliment or acknowledge my work, it keeps me inspired to keep creating. Seriously, a simple “these are stunning” can make my whole day.

5. Share Your Photos (with Credit!)

Have I taken photos for you before? Post them and tag me! This not only shows off your beautiful images, but helps more people discover my work through your network.

6. Respect My Time and Pricing

This is a big one. I pour so much into every session—before, during, and after. Even if you’re not booking, supporting my business means valuing my time, experience, and effort. Please don’t ask for free photos or edits—but know that I always offer my best to every client, regardless of the package size.

7. Invite Me to Collaborate

If you’re planning an event, working with a brand, or know someone who needs professional images—think of me! I love creative collaborations and am always open to fun ideas that showcase meaningful stories.

8. Cheer Me On

Starting and running a business can be scary. There are slow seasons, long nights editing, and moments of doubt. Your encouragement—“You’re doing amazing,” or “I love watching your business grow”—can carry me through the tough days.

You don’t have to book a session to make a difference. Every little bit of support helps me continue doing what I love—capturing memories that matter. Thank you for cheering me on, believing in small business, and being part of this beautiful journey with me. 💛
